Club News and Schedule
NEWSLETTERFebruary– 2008
Following are Sierra Snowmobile Club activities scheduled for the next two months as well as other items of interest. Always check the website www.sierrasnowmobileclub.com before scheduled events because they can be cancelled due to snow conditions. POKER RUN – CLUB BARBEQUE – FEBRUARY 17 The Tom Barile Memorial Poker Run and club barbeque will be held on Sunday, February 17. All interested riders please meet at Camp LaSalle at 11:00 a.m. to register. There will be prizes and trophies for members as well as a guest category. You must ride in poker run to be eligible for prizes. This is a great event for the entire family. Children are invited to attend and participate; however, a parent or other responsible adult must accompany all children!! A barbeque at Camp Lasalle will follow the ride. The club will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, chips and paper goods. Please bring your own drinks and a salad or dessert to share. If anyone needs directions to Camp LaSalle (the entrance is across the road from the Cedar Crest turnoff) call the Bibb cabin at 893-2178 that weekend for directions. Hope to see you there. CLUB RIDE – LUNCH AT THE DASILVA’S – MARCH 8 Chris and Melisa DaSilva have offered to provide lunch for us at their home at Tamarack on Saturday, March 8. If you would like to ride over with a group, meet at the entrance to the Upper Line Creek Tract (just past the Cedar Crest Turnoff) at 11:00 a.m. If you know where the DaSilva’s live or want to find your own way, you can meet the group there about 12:00. Please call the Bibb’s 896-3674 or email linbibb@hotmail.com by Thursday, March 6, if you plan to attend. Please bring your own drinks. If you have questions the day of the ride, call the DaSilva cabin at 893-3165 or the Bibb cabin 893-2178. CLUB RIDE – MARCH 29 We are planning the last ride of the season in conjunction with a barbeque in Kaiser Meadow on March 29. The club will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs, chips and paper goods. Please bring your own drinks and a salad or dessert to share. Everyone can ride where they want to and meet in the meadow for lunch about 1:00 p.m. REMEMBER TO CHECK THE WEBSITE A DAY OR TWO BEFORE RIDES TO SEE IF THEY ARE STILL SCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER & SNOW CONDITIONS! MEMBERSHIP DUES Thank you to the majority of club members who have paid their dues. If there is a membership application attached to your newsletter, our records indicate that your dues haven’t been received. (I make mistakes so please correct me if I’m wrong!) Please send them in as soon as possible to be eligible to participate in club activities. If you don’t pay for two consecutive years, you will be dropped from our mailing list unless you request to stay on the list in an inactive status.
PAST EVENTS Mystery Ride The first club ride of the season was held on January 26. Thanks to Dave and Debbie Carolan for hosting the ride and providing the great French Onion Soup for all of us to enjoy. It turned out to be a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and fresh powder! The clues took everyone to Sample Meadow and then back to Lakeshore for lunch and lots of great prizes! New Year’s EveThe New Year’s Eve party was again a success. We would like to thank Lakeshore Resort for the use of the lodge. Thanks also to all members who helped to set up that day and stayed to clean-up that night. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Annual Club Meeting The annual meeting was held at The Old Spaghetti Factory on December 18 with approximately 35 members in attendance. The same slates of officers were elected for the upcoming year: President – Doug Bibb, Treasurer – Cindy Couto, Secretary – Linda Bibb and Webmaster – Mike Wakefield. Club rides were planned for the season.
